People Living With HIV/AIDS Victoria has appointed Paul Kidd as president.

Kidd will take over from outgoing president David Wain who announced he was standing down after eight months in the position.

Kidd has been involved in PLWHA Victoria for four years, on the board for two years and has past involvement with the National Association of People Living With HIV/AIDS.

Speaking of the future of the HIV support organisation, Kidd said he and the board would assess PLWHA Victoria’s next step forward with a renewed community focus.

-œBecause the nature of HIV has changed a lot, the role of HIV organisations is changing. That’s something we’re definitely engaged with and looking at, and something that will be an important question for us -” exactly what is our role and how do we meet the needs of our members and people with HIV? he said.
-œWe don’t want to see our community fracture into different strata where some people are living well with HIV and some people are not living well.
