If sex sells, it may also encourage votes. Along this line of thought, the Australian Sex Party has invited the entire electorate of Higgins to Sexpo on the weekend.
The Australian Sex Party candidate for the federal seat, Fiona Patten, said the move was to educate the electorate on sex-related issues. Patten is running on a platform of improved sex education in schools, gay rights and combating internet censorship.
Patten said if elected she will attempt to broker a deal with state governments to legalise the sale of X-rated films and R-rated computer games.
“I hope that by showing Higgins voters around Sexpo, they will come to understand the full impact of the Victorian state Government’s refusal to allow both these categories to be sold in this state,” Patten said.
“It’s the most pressing personal liberty issue in Victoria at the moment.”
The entry fee to Sexpo for Higgins voters will be waived on proof of residency in the electorate.
